What is PCI DSS?
The PCI Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) applies to all entities that store, process, and/or transmit cardholder data. It covers technical and operational practices for system components included in or connected to environments with cardholder data. If you accept or process payment cards, PCI DSS applies to you.
What is Level 1 Compliance?
Level 1 is the highest tier of PCI DSS certification. It applies to service providers that store, process, or transmit more than 300,000 credit card transactions annually. Meeting Level 1 requirements includes:
- All PCI DSS requirements validated in full
- Annual Report on Compliance (ROC) by a Qualified Security Assessor (QSA)
- Quarterly network scans by an Approved Scanning Vendor (ASV)
- Annual penetration testing of network and application layers
- Internal security scans across all cardholder data environments
